LENS- Research windows/portals

Rob Mulholland
(The Four Seasons, 2013)

His sculptures in different backgrounds

This installation was commissioned by Andrew Low, owner of ‘The Four Seasons Hotel’ at the head of Loch Earn in the small Perthshire village of St Fillans. It’s a wonderful view down this beautiful Loch.

‘ The Four Seasons ‘, particularly with the pier suggests a mood of anticipation, as if the figures are awaiting the return of others sent on a distant passage. It refers to a sense of homecoming, returning and re-connecting to our ancestral roots. The title also refers the passing of time and natural cycle of the seasons, which are physically and metaphorically reflected in the figures.

The images below are from his facebook page. :)

LENS- Experimentation windows/portals

Took pictures around a display in the mall.

I got my sister to stand on the other side of the display imitate the mannequin's pose.
As you look through the glass you see reflections of lights, posters, people all mixed into one making it look like a portal into more than one place.

I tried taking a photo of my reflection wearing the display hat but it failed. :(

Too bright, you can't really see my reflection.

The hat looks like its floating in the air. lol. Placement is wrong.

Random reflection photos into a grey wall outside a store.

LENS- Experimentation windows/portals

I took photos of the lights of one store being reflected onto the floor.
Looks like a 'starry night'.
Gave me the idea of blending Rob Mulhollands work with his sculptures and putting them into different backgrouds or landscapes to have different reflections on the sculptures, like portals into different universes.

Lights being reflected into one of the wall pillars.

LENS- Experimentation windows/portals

I had bought an odd shaped bottle that was bright blue which i decided to take pictures through. I liked how the pictures obviously were all blue and how they were also distorted depending on how close i held the lens of the camera to the bottle.

I like how the sides of this picture look blurry and have diagonal lines and the the middle of the photo looks normal, making you focus on the middle of the picture.

LENS- Research windows/portals

More of Rob Mulholland's work.

I like how the glass sculptures are shaped as WW1 soldiers and how it gives off the effect of a portal into another time.

Glass Manipulation

As i was looking at glass manipulation i came across Rob Mulholland and his work 'Visage' which are human sculptures made out of acrylic glass.
Because the sculptures are see through, it looks like they are windows or portals themselves.

Manipulation of glass

As i was looking at different images of windows and glass online, i came across Shyna Leib and her art work. It looks like the glass is trying to come out of the frame with the way she's manipulated the glass. Also looks like a frozen portal.
