LENS- TASK 1, Research an Artist

Shigeyuki Kihara.

What do I See- Dim lighting, red colour, multiple movements overlapped. one subject in middle of screen.

What is the idea the artist is communicating- The different Pacific Island dance movements

What is working- I love this piece. I love how the background is dark and that the focus are the different dance movements. I love how the movements are in colour and are in the centre, making you notice it straight away. I also like how the movements have been overlapped in such a way that although there are a lot of movements going on, your eyes aren't confused.

What is not working- No audio

What would you do differently- I would add some music that is connected to the movement to set the tone even more.

LENS- TASK 9, Match cut

what's not working in this clip is that the lens is not focused properly, therefore the images are not as clear as they could be.

LENS- TASK 11, cross cutting

LENS- FINAL MOVING IMAGE

LENS- TASK 10, Omni directional and Directional Sound

LENS- RESEARCH, audio

One Republic: I lived

i like this song because it has a uplifting beat and it sets a happy mood when listening to it. :)

LENS- EXPERIMENT, mother flash cards

just experimenting with one person going through different words about mothers.

not very successful.

LENS- EXPERIMENT, mother survey

i got some of my friends to hold up descriptive words about their mothers

I like the black and white tint and also the 'dip to black' video transition that is used that makes the different videos flow more into each other. I also like how the video transition also connects well with the tint of this clip.

if i had them all sitting in the same area, it may have made the clip more organised and professional looking.

LENS- EXPERIMENT of movement

slowed down the movement which made the action more in sync with the music

the movement is still too messy, although not as much as my other video.

LENS- EXPERIMENT; overlapping dance movement

i was inspired by shigeyuki kihara's piece which she did called Siva in Motion.

What isn't working in this experiment is that the movement is too messy; if she had stood in one spot and moved her body it would have been less confusing for the eye to watch.

LENS- EXPERIMENTATION: connecting images with audio

I used an Ed Sheeran song called "Small Bump" that is about a friend of his that had a miscarriage. I only used the first verse and the chorus and connected as best i could the certain images that would relate to the lyric being said.

LENS- RESEARCH:Alan Watts - Acceptance of Death

I love how the man speaking is connected with the images and video.

I also love the message behind the video, that death is apart of life, and when you die life is carried on through other individuals.

I also love how the music intensifies the mood by becoming more dramatic and becoming louder or softer.

LENS- EXPERIMENTATION- colour, overlap, audio

Adding a blue tint to all the images and videos. I've left the silhouette of the pregnant lady black and white.

I've added the blue tint to the other images to show the progress of life that could happen. Blue tint is to represent the baby scan.

LENS- EXPERIMENTATION- overlapping with audio

The song used is Kehlani- The Letter, which is a song about how her mother left her.

Using a sad song creates a depressing mood.

Context: Mothers that leave children miss out on the joy or happiness that a child brings

Evaluation: I don't like the mood of the clip. I want something more happy and uplifting. So maybe ill change the song to a more bright and upbeat song.

LENS- EXPERIMENTATION with overlapping images and videos

Baby Mingo

Using two images and having them shown at the same time.
Decreasing the opacity of the silhouette of the pregnant woman so that you are able to see the video of Domingo (the baby) laughing.
Gives off the idea of two lives intertwined. Two lives present simultaneously.
